Coming Up
Lessons from Romans
Our evening Bible studies meet this month for fellowship and study of God’s Word. Our women’s Bible study meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month at 6pm at the Albert’s home. Our men’s Bible study meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month at 6pm at the Carver’s home.
In the weeks ahead we have several church events scheduled. Join us on March 16 at 9:30 for our church town hall meeting as we discuss our vision and goals for 2025. Also, I hope you can join us for a church lunch at the McKown's home on March 22 at 12pm.
We are also having our first Spring Theology Night on March 26 at 6:30pm. We will have refreshments and then learn about the doctrine of the Trinity. Please let Ben or Emily know if you plan to attend.
As the weather warms up, make plans to attend our first church picnic of the year on April 6 after worship. We will eat outside by the Darby Building and be sure to bring a dish to share with others.
In addition to church events, join us Sunday for Discipleship Hour at 9:30. This is an opportunity for children and adults to grow in their understanding of God’s Word and develop deeper relationships with others.
We began our study in the book of Romans back in 2023 and we are coming to final verses of Romans. I hope this study has helped you grow in your understanding of God's Word and encouraged you in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The final chapter of Romans is filled with names of those in the church that Paul sends his greetings to in Rome. At first glance, the long list may not seem to teach us much, but it does offer a valuable reminder. The names listed by Paul in Romans 16 remind us that each of us have a role to serve in the church.
Each of us have gifts we can use to build up the church.
Each of us is called to serve the people of God.
As we finish up Romans and anticipate Easter, let's spend time in prayer thanking the Lord for his Word.
It is only through Scripture that we see the good news of salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and are able to grow in our relationship with the Triune God.
Please join us Sunday for our Discipleship Hour at 9:30 and then worship with us at 10:30 as we hear the Gospel and receive the Sacrament.

Beliefs
We are a biblical church in the Reformed tradition that affirms the truth and authority Scripture. We also affirm historic creeds and confessions such as the Apostle’s Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Westminster Confession of Faith as faithful descriptions of the beauty and truth of God's Word.
Leadership

Reverend
Benjamin Carver
Rev. Benjamin Carver serves as minister at Shem Creek Presbyterian Church and is the author of Redemption in the Minor Prophets. Rev. Carver attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M.) where he researched and wrote on the Trinitarian theology of Jonathan Edwards. Benjamin is married to Emily, and they enjoy spending time hiking, birding, and reading.

Church Intern
Edward Manger
Edward Manger is married to Jillian, and together they have three little boys. The Mangers were members of Shem Creek from its founding until they moved to Germany for Edward to pursue a PhD in Historical Theology. On completing that degree in 2023, and in response to a call to the ministry, Edward has returned to take up the position of Church Planting Intern and is currently going through the license process with Catawba Presbytery. The Mangers can mainly be found digging on Sullivans Island, reading books about knights, and hitting things with sticks.

I'm New
We would love for you to join us Sunday at 10:30 as we worship the Triune God. Shem Creek Presbyterian Church was started as a new biblical church for the Lowcountry because we need more biblical churches in the Charleston area.
Our Sunday worship service is biblical and casual. We sing ancient and modern hymns, learn from God's Word being read and preached, and celebrate the Lord's Supper. The parking lot is behind the Darby Building on Bank Street and there is also street parking available on King and Pitt Streets.
