Coming Up
Preparing for Easter
I hope you will join us Sunday morning at 10:30 for worship as we study the Word of God and hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we approach Easter Sunday this month, please pray about who you can invite to worship with us at SCPC.
Pray that God will use you and our church to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ with others in our community.
After our Easter worship service we will have an Easter egg hunt for our younger children.
Please bring your kids to the front door of the Darby Building after worship and we will begin our egg hunt from the front of the building.
Also, make plans to join us for a church breakfast on May 4 at 9:30 before worship. Bring some breakfast food to share with others and join us for a meal and conversation downstairs before we worship at 10:30.
In addition to church events, join us Sunday for Discipleship Hour at 9:30. This is an opportunity for children and adults to grow in their understanding of God’s Word and develop deeper relationships with others.
Easter is approaching and perhaps it's a good opportunity to reflect on the necessity of Easter.
Why is Easter necessary? Easter is necessary because of the cross.
Why is the cross necessary? The cross is necessary because of our sin. Our sin is a crime against God.
For God to demonstrate his holiness and justice he must punish sin with death. God cannot just look the other way on my sinful words. God cannot just tolerate your sinful actions. He must justly punish sin because he is a holy God.
Instead of punishing you for your sins, God sent his Son to take on your punishment and suffer in your place. Christ took on the wrath of God for sin at the cross so that you could receive the gift of life.
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, remember the cross. He died in your place. He rose again on the first day of the week because he had already died in your place.
You and I can't pay God back for his gift of grace. However, we can live a life of gratitude and worship in response to his work of redemption.

Beliefs
We are a biblical church in the Reformed tradition that affirms the truth and authority Scripture. We also affirm historic creeds and confessions such as the Apostle’s Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Westminster Confession of Faith as faithful descriptions of the beauty and truth of God's Word.

I'm New
We would love for you to join us Sunday at 10:30 as we worship the Triune God. Shem Creek Presbyterian Church was started as a new biblical church for the Lowcountry because we need more biblical churches in the Charleston area.
Our Sunday worship service is biblical and casual. We sing ancient and modern hymns, learn from God's Word being read and preached, and celebrate the Lord's Supper. The parking lot is behind the Darby Building on Bank Street and there is also street parking available on King and Pitt Streets.
